Dynamo's Selin faces six months on sidelines

FC Dynamo Kyiv will be without Yevhen Selin for a minimum of six months after the Ukraine defender tore a cruciate knee ligament against FC Chornomorets Odesa.

FC Dynamo Kyiv must do without the services of Yevhen Selin for at least six months after the Ukraine defender ruptured a cruciate ligament during Sunday's 2-1 home defeat by FC Chornomorets Odesa.

The 25-year-old left-back sustained the injury 13 minutes into the second half at the NSK Olimpiyskyi and his worst fears were realised by a scan on Tuesday confirming damage to his right knee.

Selin will therefore miss Dynamo's UEFA Europa League play-off encounter with FC Aktobe. The Kazakhstani outfit host the first leg next Thursday, with the return scheduled for 29 August in Kyiv. He will also be unavailable for the remainder of Ukraine's 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, which resumes in September at home to San Marino.
