Liverpool FC have lost England midfield player Danny Murphy for up to a month with an ankle injury.

Ligament damage
The 26-year-old was hurt in a reserve match against Everton FC last night, suffering ligament damage after a challenge by Kevin Campbell in the 42nd minute of a 1-0 victory. The injury is a major headache for Liverpool manager Gérard Houllier as Murphy had impressed in Sunday's 3-2 Premiership defeat by Charlton Athletic FC.

Big games
As well as the UEFA Cup first-round second leg against NK Olimpija Ljubljana on 15 October, Murphy is almost certain to miss England's final UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifier against Turkey on 11 October.
