Ukrainian international goalkeeper Mykola Medin will miss the second leg of FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk's UEFA Cup first-round tie against Hamburger SV through injury.
Cruciate damage
The 31-year-old custodian damaged cruciate knee ligaments in a 5-1 win against FC Volyn Lutsk last month and a scan in Kiev revealed that the player will need an operation to correct the problem. Medin is due to undergo surgery in Leverkusen in Germany.
One-goal deficit
Dnipro's 22-year-old reserve goalkeeper Artem Kusliy will deputise for Medin while he recovers. Dnipro play the return match against Hamburg on 15 October, looking to overturn a 2-1 deficit from the first leg in Germany.
