Steaua test
The Republic of Ireland full-back, who joined Liverpool for €4.9m from Fulham FC in the summer, will miss the UEFA Cup second round second-leg match against FC Steaua Bucuresti this Thursday. Liverpool earned a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Romania earlier this month.
Alternatives pondered
"We won't have Steve for four weeks," manager Gérard Houllier told the club's official website. "We will look at a few options but Salif [Diao] will probably play against Bucharest. It is a blow."
