Belgian international Philippe Clement has opted to extend his Club Brugge KV contract until the summer of 2008.

'Happy and satisfied'
Versatile defender and midfield player Clement's current deal expires at the end of this season. The 29-year-old said: "I am relieved, happy and satisfied that I can start the second part of the league season with a fresh mind. There was serious interest from the Netherlands, France and Germany for me. Financially the offers were much more interesting, but I chose a secure contract at Brugge, partly because the board sound very ambitious."

UEFA Cup campaign
Capped 22 times by Belgium, Clement joined Brugge four years ago from English side Coventry City FC. His side lie fifth in the Belgian First Division, and having finished third in UEFA Champions League Group H, begin their UEFA Cup campaign with the first leg of their third-round tie at Hungarian side Debreceni VSC on 26 February.
