Tamas bound for Spartak

Romania defender Gabriel Tamas has joined FC Spartak Moskva from Galatasaray SK on a four-year contract.

Galatasaray SK's Romanian international defender Gabriel Tamas has joined FC Spartak Moskva for a fee of €1.6m.

International duty
The 20-year-old has signed a four-year contract with Spartak although he will only link up with his new team-mates on 22 February as he is on international duty at an eight-nation tournament in Cyprus. Tamas, who has scored once in four games for Romania, joined Galatasaray last summer from FC Dinamo Bucuresti for €100,000 plus 50 per cent of any future transfer fee.

UEFA Cup tie
Tamas played four times in the UEFA Champions League group stage, making him ineligible for Spartak's UEFA Cup tie against RCD Mallorca. However, the Russian club have registered Alexey Zuev, Luke Awona Zoah, Dusan Petkovic, Kamaloutdin Akhmedov and Oleg Ivanov for the third-round match.
