Adrie Koster has given Club Brugge KV a boost before the second leg of their UEFA Europa League round of 32 contest with Valencia CF by signing a one-year contract extension to continue as coach of the Belgian club.

Chairman Pol Jonckheere made the announcement before the Eerste Klasse title contenders left for the conclusion of the tie in Spain on Thursday. "The coach signed a one-year contract last summer with the option for another year," he said. "The club have now exercised that option so Adrie Koster is our coach for the next year." Dutchman Koster, whose team ended Valencia's 18-match unbeaten run in Europe with a 1-0 win last week, said: "I feel excellent here and I am happy that Club Brugge are satisfied with my work."
