VfL Wolfsburg goalkeeper Diego Benaglio has returned to full training after surgery on a persistent knee problem last month. However, the 26-year-old Swiss international − who has not played this year − will not be considered for the conclusion of the Bundesliga club's UEFA Europa League round of 16 tie against FC Rubin Kazan on Thursday which is level at 1-1. "He is still lacking in a few small things, especially when it comes to strength," said Wolfsburg coach Lorenz-Günther Köstner. Midfielder Karim Ziani has also returned to training following a thigh problem, although defender Andrea Barzagli (rib) and striker Grafite (adductor) could miss Rubin's visit.
