Valencia CF have suffered a double setback in their preparations for Thursday's UEFA Europa League round of 16 second leg at Werder Bremen – with David Albelda and David Navarro both succumbing to injury.
Midfielder Albelda tore his left thigh in the first half of Sunday's 3-0 Liga defeat at FC Barcelona and faces a month on the sidelines. The 32-year-old will be joined in the treatment room by defender Navarro who sustained a calf tear during Valencia's 1-1 Mestalla draw with Bremen last week. Tests will determine the length of the 29-year-old's lay-off.
Coach Unai Emery was already without the suspended Éver Banega and Pablo Hernández for the trip to Germany, but has received one piece of good news with striker David Villa being declared fit for selection after a shoulder complaint.
