Valencia CF have extended goalkeeper Santiago Cañizares's contract until 2005.
The 32-year-old's current deal was due to expire in 18-months' time but the club have acted to keep him at the Mestalla stadium. Valencia spokesman Jordi Brussola said: "The player is very happy, as are the club."

Cañizares, who has regained the No1 jersey for Spain, was recently voted into uefa.com's Team of 2001, polling over 55 per cent of the vote, following a series of inspired performances in the Primera División and the UEFA Champions League.
'Felt at home'
"I've felt very good and at home since I came here in 1998," said Cañizares. "I want to stay as long as my health and physical condition allows it. It was not an easy decision to make when I decided to come here from Real Madrid [CF] but now I am proud I took the decision and I think it was correct."
