Liverpool forced to wait on Torres injury

Published: Monday 12 April 2010, 22.07CET
UEFA Europa League semi-finalists Liverpool FC must wait to learn the severity of Fernando Torres's knee injury. "Fernando Torres was examined by a knee specialist this afternoon in Spain," read a club statement. "He received treatment and will continue to do so over the next few days, with the injury being reassessed later this week." Torres scored twice in the second leg of Liverpool's quarter-final victory over SL Benfica and will be particularly keen to be fit for the first instalment of the Reds' semi-final tie at his former employers, Club Atlético de Madrid, on 22 April.
