Palermo plump for promising Glik

Poland defender Kamil Glik, 22, spoke of his hopes of repeating the success of Simon Kjær after joining the Danish international at Serie A outfit US Città di Palermo on a five-year deal.

US Città di Palermo have completed the signing of Polish international defender Kamil Glik from GKS Piast Gliwice for an undisclosed fee.

Capped five times by Poland, the 22-year-old Glik has committed to the Sicilian outfit until summer 2015. "I'm very happy to join Palermo, a prestigious club," he said. "I want to play all my cards here and maybe repeat the success of centre-back [Simon] Kjær, who has made his name here at Palermo." The Rosanero will play in the UEFA Europa League play-offs in August after finishing fifth in Serie A last term.
