S.S. Lazio's Serbian left-back Aleksandar Kolarov has completed his move to Manchester City FC after passing medical tests, for a fee believed to be over €19m.
The 24-year-old, whose two appearances at the recent FIFA World Cup finals took his international tally to 15, has become the UEFA Europa League play-off round contenders' fourth major signing off the summer, following the arrivals of Yaya Touré, David Silva and Jérôme Boateng. The one-time FK Čukarički and OFK Beograd player will provide competition for Wayne Bridge at left-back.
"I want two top-class players for each position," explained manager Roberto Mancini, adding of his latest acquisition, dubbed 'The Serbian Roberto Carlos': "He has a fantastic international career ahead of him. I am looking forward to working with him. I first saw Kolarov on his Lazio debut back in 2007. I have watched him a lot since then and so have the Manchester City scouts."
