Club Atlético de Madrid continue to strengthen ahead of their UEFA Europa League title defence with Villarreal CF centre-back Diego Godín the latest to agree terms at the Vicente Calderón.
The Uruguayan international, 24, has signed a five-year contract and arrives on undisclosed terms, although the fee is thought to be significant for a player who made five appearances as his country reached the FIFA World Cup semi-finals.
Godín scored five goals in 91 Liga outings for the Yellow Submarine following his move to Spain from Club Nacional de Football in 2007. Atlético coach Quique Sánchez Flores has also recruited Filipe Luís, Fran Mérida, Diego Costa and Mario Suárez this summer.
