Niang leaves OM for Fenerbahçe

Senegalese international striker Mamadou Niang has joined Fenerbahçe SK from Olympique de Marseille having played an integral part in helping the French club reclaim the title last term.

Fenerbahçe SK have confirmed the signing of Mamadou Niang from Olympique de Marseille for a fee reported to be in the region of €8m.

The 30-year-old striker leaves for Istanbul after five seasons with OM having played an important role in helping the southern club reclaim the Ligue 1 title last term. The Senegalese international scored 18 goals in 32 league appearances in 2009/10 and overall hit an impressive 72 in 154 French top-flight games for the Stade Vélodrome outfit.

Niang, Ligue 1's top scorer last season, signed off on a sad note, playing in his side's 3-2 loss at Valenciennes FC on Saturday. Fenerbahçe are away to PAOK FC in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League play-off next Thursday, while OM enter the UEFA Champions League at the group stage.
