Juventus have completed the loan signing of Alberto Aquilani from fellow UEFA Europa League contenders Liverpool FC.

Aquilani joins the Bianconeri on a season-long deal having struggled with injury during his time in England, with the Italian side having the option to make the move permanent at the end of the campaign. He arrived on Merseyside last summer but started just nine Premier League games, making the same number of substitute appearances. The 26-year-old was at AS Roma for eight seasons prior to his reported €20m transfer to Liverpool.

Aquilani's parent club and Juventus are both well placed to make the UEFA Europa League group stage, holding 1-0 and 2-1 leads against Trabzonspor AŞ and SK Sturm Graz respectively. The second legs of their play-off ties are held on Thursday.
