Argentinian international defender Nicolás Otamendi has joined FC Porto on a five-year contract with a €4m fee changing hands for the 22-year-old, capped ten times by his country.

FC Porto have signed Argentinian international Nicolás Otamendi from CA Vélez Sársfield, paying a €4m fee subject to the 22-year-old passing medical tests.

Central defender Otamendi, who was also deployed as a right-back by Argentina at the FIFA World Cup, will join the UEFA Europa League contenders on a five-year contract. He scored once in 40 league appearances for Buenos Aires-based Vélez Sársfield, and has won ten caps for his country. Porto are 3-0 ahead following the away leg of their play-off tie against KRC Genk.
