Club captain Peter Wisgerhof says he is "targeting more success" after signing a one-year contract extension with Dutch champions FC Twente.

The defender has committed until summer 2013, with the option of a further season, having made a big impression since joining from NEC Nijmegen in January 2009. "I have experienced beautiful moments with the club," he said. "The highlights have to be the Dutch championship [last term] and the resulting Champions League campaign."

Twente finished third in Group A behind Tottenham Hotspurs FC and FC Internazionale Milano so the 31-year-old, who made his international debut against Turkey last month, will contest the UEFA Europa League in the new year. Last week's round of 32 draw pitted Michel Preud'homme's men against FC Rubin Kazan, with the first leg in Russia on 17 February and the return a week later.
