UEFA Europa League contenders FC Rubin Kazan have signed Ecuadorian forward Walter Chalá and released midfielder Andrei Gorbanets.

Chalá, 18, has moved from CD Cuenca for around €750,000 and signed a four-year contract. He will link up with Rubin, including compatriot Christian Noboa, during their Turkish training camp next month after playing for Ecuador in a youth tournament. "To go to Kazan was my dream, I always wanted to play abroad", Chalá said. "I know that I have joined a strong team, who play in Europe and want to be successful. I really want to help my club achieve more success."

Leaving the two-time Russian champions is 25-year-old Andrei Gorbanets, joining Russian first division side FC Krasnodar. Having finished third in their UEFA Champions League group, Rubin will play FC Twente in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 on 17 and 24 February. Third in Russia last year, they will enter the 2011/12 UEFA Champions League third qualifying round.
