Villarreal CF will be able to count on the services of striker Giuseppe Rossi until June 2016 after the Italian international agreed terms on a contract extension at El Madrigal.

Rossi has signed on for a further three years with the Spanish club after his 11 goals in 19 Liga appearances this term helped the third-placed Yellow Submarine to their best start to a domestic campaign. The former Parma FC and Manchester United FC forward has taken his tally to 44 strikes in 110 league outings for Villarreal following his arrival in 2007.

The 23-year-old United States-born player has also been in fine form in the UEFA Europa League, netting five times in six games to fire his team to a round of 32 encounter with SSC Napoli next month. Moreover, he has added to his collection of Italy caps, making two appearances for Cesare Prandelli's side in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying to increase his total to 15.
