Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' is to sit out the UEFA Cup semi-final first leg at Newcastle United FC after sustaining a minor knee injury in Olympique de Marseille's 2-1 victory against Lille OSC on Sunday.

The 21-year-old Egypt striker has to rest for a week, meaning he is likely to miss next Sunday's Ligue 1 trip to Paris Saint-Germain FC too. Marseille coach José Anigo could also be without another forward, Steve Marlet, for Thursday's first leg at St James' Park. The French international bruised his thigh against LOSC after scoring the winning goal.
