Valencia CF midfielder David Albelda is to spend at least another season at Mestalla after agreeing a one-year contract extension until June 2013.
Since breaking into the first team in 1997/98, Albelda has gone on to score six goals in 325 Liga matches while winning two domestic championships and the UEFA Cup among other prizes.
Capped 51 times by Spain, the 34-year-old will be hoping to help his side into the last 16 of the UEFA Europa League at the expense of Stoke City FC next Thursday. Albelda, who has Ricardo Arias's club record 16 seasons in his sights, was an unused substitute in last night's 1-0 first-leg win in England.
