Manchester United FC have suffered an injury setback ahead of their UEFA Europa League round of 16 decider against Athletic Club with the news that midfielder Anderson could be out for up to five weeks with a hamstring complaint.
The 23-year-old only returned to action as a second-half substitute in the 3-2 first-leg defeat at Old Trafford last week but United manager Sir Alex Ferguson revealed the Brazilian international is facing another spell on the sidelines. "Anderson could be out for four or five weeks due to his hamstring," he said. "Some hamstrings are relatively straightforward but we have to wait and see how he is in the next week or so to get a better idea of where we stand with him [in terms of recovery]."
The Red Devils will have to inflict a first home defeat of the competition on Marcelo Bielsa's side if they are to progress on Thursday evening. The draw for the quarter and semi-finals takes place on Friday.
