Failure bites hard at CSKA

A third-placed finish in the A PFG has prompted a major shake up for Bulgarian giants PFC CSKA Sofia.

Four departing
Coach Ferario Spasov has been given a vote of confidence by the Bulgarian club's board but he has released four players: team captain Georgi Antonov, Portuguese winger João Paulo Brito, Emil Petkov and reserve goalkepeer Ivailo Ivanov.

Loan options
In addition the club are also looking to loan Borislav Karamatev, Radoslav Mitrevski, Stoicho Mladenov, Lubomir Velichkov, Martin Kerchev, Konstantin Mirchev and Genko Slavov to other clubs next season, while Stefan Trifonov has replaced Stoyan Yordanov as goalkeeping coach.

Unhappy ending
The Bulgarian giants finished the season with a penalty shoot-out defeat against PFC Litex Lovech in the Bulgarian Cup final as PFC Lokomotiv Plovdiv took the national title for the first time in their history.
