Brendan Rodgers has made his first signing as Liverpool FC manager by bringing in forward Fabio Borini from AS Roma for a reported fee of €14m.
The 21-year-old, a member of the Italy squad which finished runners-up to Spain at UEFA EURO 2012, has agreed a "long-term deal" with the Anfield club.
Borini worked under Rodgers at Swansea City AFC in the second half of the 2009/10 campaign while on loan from Chelsea FC, helping the Welsh side gain promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs. Last season he scored nine times in 24 Serie A outings for Roma.
In an interview with the Liverpool website, Borini, who will wear the No29 shirt, said: "It feels really good [to have signed], and to be back in England. It's a top club that has won a lot of trophies in the past, and will do so in the future we hope as well."
The Reds begin their UEFA Europa League campaign in the third qualifying round, the draw for which is made on 20 July.
