Liverpool FC, FC Internazionale Milano and Fenerbahçe SK all had good nights on matchday three, each recording 1-0 wins to take a firm grip on their respective groups while the trio of teams with perfect records prevailed again.

In a highly competitive Group A, Liverpool now hold the lead after they beat FC Anji Makhachkala 1-0 to leapfrog both them and Udinese Calcio, 3-1 losers at BSC Young Boys. Fenerbahçe SK gained a narrow victory at AEL Limassol FC in Group C to stride clear of Olympique de Marseille who lost 2-0 at VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach.

FC Internazionale Milano reinforced their position atop Group H thanks to Rodrigo Palacio's clincher at home to FK Partizan. They sit on seven points alongside FC Rubin Kazan, victors in the evening's early game against Neftçi PFK. It is a similar story in Group K where FC Metalist Kharkiv and Bayer 04 Leverkusen both won away to move clear at the head of the section.

In contrast, a tight battle is in prospect in Group J following a pair of 1-1 draws between NK Maribor and Tottenham Hotspur FC, and S.S. Lazio and Panathinaikos FC. Three points separate the four teams, with the Rome side leading the way for now.

Olympique Lyonnais continue to impress in this competition after being perennial UEFA Champions League contenders for so long. They overcame last season's runners-up Athletic Club 2-1 in Group I to maintain a perfect record after three matchdays that only FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and holders Club Atlético de Madrid can equal.

Atlético's 2-1 Group B victory against A. Académica de Coimbra extended their incredible winning streak in Europe which now stands at 16. Dnipro continue to make waves of their own, putting three past SSC Napoli who slip to third behind PSV Eindhoven in Group F.

Meanwhile, in perhaps the surprise group of the autumn campaign so far, KRC Genk and Videoton FC set the pace after defeating Sporting Clube de Portugal and FC Basel 1893 respectively.
