Bayer 04 Leverkusen have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of 18-year-old Poland striker Arkadiusz Milik from Górnik Zabrze on a contract which runs until summer 2018.
Leverkusen have paid a fee believed to be in the region of €3.5m for the forward, who has made three appearances for Poland following his debut in a friendly against South Africa on 12 October. Milik watched from the stands on Saturday as his new club beat Hamburger SV 3-0 in their final Bundesliga game before the winter break.
"This match confirmed that I have made the right choice," said Milik, who will join his team-mates for a training camp in Portugal at the beginning of January. "It was a great experience, the performance on the pitch was outstanding and the atmosphere in the stadium fantastic."
Sporting director Rudi Völler also expressed his delight at the Werkself's latest acquisition, saying: "In Poland, Arkadiusz Milik is seen as probably the biggest talent right now. He has already played for the Polish national team at the age of 18. Our coaching team of Sascha Lewandowski and Sami Hyypiä will continue to develop him step by step."
Leverkusen will discover their UEFA Europa League round of 32 opponents when the draw is made on Thursday.
