Tottenham Hotspur FC will be without Sandro for the rest of the season after the Brazilian international midfielder underwent surgery on an injury to his right knee sustained against Queens Park Rangers FC last weekend.

The 23-year-old has featured in every Premier League game for Tottenham this term but was stretchered off with an anterior cruciate ligament and lateral meniscus injury after 24 minutes of Saturday's 0-0 draw at Loftus Road.

Sandro will be missed as the driving force in the Spurs midfield though Scott Parker's return to fitness has proved timely and he is likely to deputise, starting at home to Manchester United FC on Sunday. André Villas-Boas's side will play Olympique Lyonnais in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 with the first leg taking place at White Hart Lane on 14 February.
