Labbadia signs on at 'growing' Stuttgart

"We are growing as a club and I want to be a part of that," said VfB Stuttgart coach Bruno Labbadia after signing a new deal that ties him to the side until the summer of 2015.

VfB Stuttgart coach Bruno Labbadia has committed his future to the Bundesliga team by signing a new contract that runs until summer 2015.

The 46-year-old assumed the reins in January 2011 and steered his side clear of relegation; the following season he secured a sixth-placed finish and UEFA Europa League football. "I took over the club in a poor position and it was something very new to me. Battling relegation made me a more complete coach. We are growing as a club and I want to be a part of that," said the former Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Hamburger SV tactician.

Club chairman Gerd E Mäuser added: "Bruno has done some very good work in the two years he has been at Stuttgart. He took over the team at a difficult time, steadily continued to develop it and last season led us into Europe. We are pleased to have tied him to us for longer."

Stuttgart face KRC Genk in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 on 14 and 21 February. Should they overcome that hurdle a last-16 tie against either VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach or S.S. Lazio awaits.
