FC Internazionale Milano forward Diego Milito will be out for the rest of the season after sustaining a serious knee injury in the opening minutes of his side's 2-0 UEFA Europa League round of 32 win against CFR 1907 Cluj.
The 33-year-old was carried off early on at San Siro after twisting his left knee and was immediately taken to hospital where damage to his anterior cruciate ligament, collateral ligaments and knee cap was diagnosed. Milito, who had only returned to action last weekend following a different knee injury, will need to undergo surgery and will be sidelined for at least six months.
The former Argentinian international, who joined Inter from Genoa CFC in 2009, has a special place in the history of the Nerazzurri after scoring both goals in the 2-0 victory against FC Bayern München in the 2010 UEFA Champions League final.
