Anticipation is rising in Amsterdam ahead of the 2013 UEFA Europa League final, and as SL Benfica, Chelsea FC and the refereeing team put the finishing touches to their preparations, we looked wider afield.
The Dutch capital's streets are awash with colour, with the distinctive cityscape final branding lining pavements already being well-trodden by supporters and even the odd Red Devil. The Amsterdam ArenA's transformation from home of AFC Ajax to home of the UEFA Europa League is well under way, while 7km north is a more permanent change: on Tuesday, UEFA President Michel Platini opened a mini-pitch funded by UEFA's grassroots programme to mark the final.
