Guus Hiddink has signed a one-year contract extension to remain as coach of FC Anji Makhachkala.
Hiddink, 66, arrived at Anji in February 2012 and led them in their UEFA Europa League debut, reaching the last 16, and to their maiden Russian Cup final. Having finished third in Russia they will begin the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League in the group stage and assemble for pre-season training next Tuesday.
"There was an option in Hiddink's contract to extend it for one more year, and both sides were happy to trigger that," said Anji chairman Konstantin Remchukov.
During a coaching career spanning three decades, Hiddink has worked with De Graafschap (as assistant), PSV Eindhoven, Fenerbahçe SK, Valencia CF, Real Madrid CF, Real Betis Balompié and Chelsea FC, as well as the national teams of Netherlands, South Korea, Australia, Russia and Turkey.
Hiddink helped PSV win the 1988 European Champion Clubs' Cup and six Dutch titles in his two spells, and led the Netherlands, South Korea and Russia to major tournament semi-finals.
