SC Braga have signed full-back Joãozinho from SC Beira-Mar on a five-year contract.
The Portuguese League Cup holders have paid the relegated side an undisclosed fee for the 23-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Sporting Clube de Portugal. "It's a great [source of] pride to play for a club with the history of Braga and I have no doubt that this is a step forward in my career," he said.
In joining the Arsenalistas, Joãozinho will once again link up with Jesualdo Ferreira, his coach at Sporting last term, who earlier this month took charge of Braga for the second time after parting company with the Lisbon outfit in May. "Professor Jesualdo has shaped my career and it's a plus to be able to develop alongside one of the best Portuguese coaches," he added.
Fourth-place finishers in the Liga in 2012/13, Braga will start their European campaign in the UEFA Europa League play-offs.
