Juventus Stadium

The 2013/14 UEFA Europa League final will be the first one-off showpiece staged in Turin.

UEFA capacity: 40,941
Record attendance: 40,823 v FC Bayern München (10/04/2013)
Tenants: Juventus

• The venue opened on 8 September 2011 with a 1-1 draw against the team that inspired Juventus's black-and-white shirts, Notts County FC. It is the first club-owned stadium in Serie A. "Juve have always been a wonderful painting, and a great painting needs a wonderful frame like this," former captain Alessandro Del Piero said at the opening.

• Built at a cost of around €105m on the site of the old Stadio delle Alpi, the venue boasts a museum, a 'walk of fame' featuring 50 Juve stars and a large shopping centre. Unlike the Delle Alpi, there is no running track so stands are just 7m from the pitch; even the back rows are only 49m away.

Stephan Lichtsteiner scores the first competitive goal

• The Bianconeri beat Parma FC 4-1 in the first competitive match at the stadium on 11 September 2011, Stephan Lichtsteiner scoring the first goal after 16 minutes. Fans had to wait another 13 months for a maiden European game, a 1-1 draw with FC Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Champions League group stage.

• On 14 June 2013, Juventus acquired a 99-year leasehold on a huge tranche of land by the stadium and aim to redevelop over the next ten years, with plans including new club headquarters and a training centre.

• The Delle Alpi was built ahead of the 1990 FIFA World Cup when it hosted five games, including Argentina's 1-0 victory over Brazil in the last 16 and West Germany's penalty shoot-out win against England in the semi-finals.

• Juventus left there in 2006, returning for five years to the Stadio Olimpico, which had been their home between 1933 and 1990.
