SC Braga have confirmed the return of Portuguese international goalkeeper Eduardo, initially on a season's loan but with the possibility of a permanent move next summer.

Eduardo, a member of Portugal's 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA EURO 2012 squads, rejoins the northern club from Italian side Genoa CFC, who had enticed him away from Braga in 2010. After a single season in Italy he spent the following campaign farmed out to SL Benfica and then last term on loan with İstanbul BB SK, making 33 Turkish Süper Lig appearances.

A product of Braga's youth system, Eduardo's original spell at the Estádio Municipal spanned 60 Liga outings as well as loan stints with SC Beira-Mar and Vitória FC. The 30-year-old won the last of his 29 Portugal caps in the June friendly in Croatia, a 1-0 victory. Fourth last season in the Liga, Portuguese League Cup holders Braga begin their 2013/14 UEFA Europa League mission in the play-offs.
