The 10,000 fans attending FC Porto's open training session on New Year's Day had an unexpected treat as free agent Ricardo Quaresma returned to the club on undisclosed terms.

Ricardo Quaresma was the main attraction of FC Porto's first training session of 2014 as he returned to the club he departed in 2008.

The 30-year-old has been a free agent since leaving al Ahli Club in May and was put through his paces before a crowd of 10,000, attending the Estádio do Dragão for the New Year's Day open training session. The Portuguese champions have not disclosed any contract details.

"The most important thing is feeling happy and I feel happy at this ground," said erstwhile Portugal winger Quaresma. "It's an enormous honour to wear Porto's shirt again and I want to repay their faith on the pitch and help my club win more titles."

Quaresma won three league titles, the Portuguese Cup and the European/South American Cup during his first spell at Porto between 2004 and 2008. He joined FC Internazionale Milano and was a peripheral member of their treble-winning squad of 2009/10 under José Mourinho.

Quaresma, who began his career in the Sporting Clube de Portugal where he won the Liga in 2002, has also had spells at FC Barcelona, Chelsea FC and Beşiktaş JK.
