Eintracht Frankfurt have been dealt a blow in the build-up to their UEFA Europa League round of 32 home second leg against FC Porto with the news that midfielder Sebastian Rode will miss the rest of the campaign.

According to coach Armin Veh, the 23-year-old sustained "minimal cartilage damage" to his right knee during the Eagles' goalless Bundesliga draw with SV Werder Bremen last weekend. "He is probably going to be out for the remainder of the season," said Veh, whose side held Porto 2-2 last week, having been two down. "It is very, very disappointing for him and for us."

The holding midfielder, who joined Eintract from local rivals Kickers Offenbach in 2010, has made 17 league appearances this term and a further five in Europe. Veh added: "I'm absolutely sure this is not a career-threatening injury – I'm sure he will be back in a few months."
