Olympique Lyonnais right-back Miguel Lopes is unlikely to play again this season after fracturing the tibia in his left leg on Sunday against EA Guingamp.
The 27-year-old, who stayed on the pitch until the end of the 1-0 away victory for Rémi Garde's side, will undergo surgery on Tuesday. A statement on the club website says the Portuguese international, capped four times, will "then wear a cast for six weeks before beginning his rehabilitation".
Such a recovery period means the defender's campaign is all but over, with the Ligue 1 season scheduled to finish on 17 May. Lopes has featured 19 times this term in the French top flight and made five appearances in the UEFA Europa League, where Lyon play Juventus in the quarter-finals on 3 and 10 April.
Lopes, on loan from Sporting Clube de Portugal, joins a lengthy Lyon injury list including Clément Grenier, Samuel Umtiti, Gueïda Fofana, Henri Bedimo, Milan Biševac and Mouhamadou Dabo.
