Stocker and Degen out of Valencia trip

FC Basel 1893 travel to Valencia CF shorn of two key players after Valentin Stocker picked up a knock and Philipp Degen was ruled out for "several weeks".

FC Basel 1893 will be without Valentin Stocker and Philipp Degen when they travel to Valencia CF on Thursday after the influential duo were ruled out through injury.

Stocker, who completed Basel's 3-0 UEFA Europa League quarter-final first-leg victory last week, sustained an adductor injury at the weekend during the goalless Swiss Super League draw against FC Thun. The midfielder is expect to be absent for around seven days but the prognosis is worse for defender Degen, who could be sidelined for "several weeks" with a torn calf muscle.
