Article body
Four-year deal
Pitau will join the UEFA Cup entrants on 23 August after agreeing a four-year contract allowing him to fulfil his ambition of playing in Europe. Before that date, the 26-year-old will remain with Nice for their first three Ligue 1 matches of the season.
Nice farewell
Sochaux chairman Jean-Claude Plessis said: "Everything is now OK between Nice, the Sochaux directors and Pitau." Nice, who have sold Everson to SL Benfica and have Jacques Abardonado injured, were keen not to lose another key player for their tough league openers against Olympique de Marseille, FC Girondins de Bordeaux and champions Olympique Lyonnais.
Intertoto campaign
Pitau represented Nice in this summer's UEFA Intertoto Cup, but as they exited before the semi-finals, losing in the second round against Esbjerg fB, he will be eligible for Sochaux's UEFA Cup campaign which begins in the first round.
