Barry rejoins Everton from Manchester City

Former England midfielder Gareth Barry said it feels "really good" to be an Everton FC player after signing a three-year deal with the club where he spent last season on loan.

Gareth Barry has signed a three-year deal with Everton FC following the expiry of his Manchester City FC contract.

The former England midfielder spent last season on loan at Goodison Park from the Premier League champions, scoring three goals in 32 top-flight appearances for the fifth-placed finishers. Barry, 33, is manager Roberto Martínez's first acquisition of the summer ahead of the Merseyside club's return to the UEFA Europa League group stage.

"When you are on loan, it is never the same as being a signed player," Barry told the Everton website. "I was really settled last year, but now I am an official Everton player and it feels really good. From the moment I signed last year I settled in straight away. There is a fantastic history here and it was brilliant working with the manager."

Barry began his career at Aston Villa FC, featuring 365 times in the league for the Midlands team. He joined City in June 2009 and helped Roberto Mancini's then side to the title in 2012 but was overlooked for selection when Manuel Pellegrini took charge of the Citizens last summer. Barry scored three times in 53 outings for England.
