VfL Wolfsburg have confirmed the loan signing of midfielder Josuha Guilavogui from Club Atlético de Madrid.

The 23-year-old French international arrives on a two-year loan from the Spanish champions, with Wolfsburg securing an option to make the move permanent for a reported fee of €5m. "He is a midfielder who can play various positions in defence and I am convinced he will settle quickly and be a big help for the team," coach Dieter Hecking said, while sporting director Klaus Allofs added: "We're happy to boost our squad with a player possessing his level of potential."

Guilavogui joined Atlético from AS Saint-Étienne last summer but, unable to make his mark, was loaned back to his original club for the second half of the season. He has five France caps and has appeared in 103 Ligue 1 matches. Wolfsburg will enter the UEFA Europa League at the group stage.
