FC Zenit St. Peterburg have strengthened their defence by signing Jan Flachbart from AC Sparta Praha.
Flachbart, who has agreed a three-year contract, is the third defender to join the Russian Premier-Liga pacesetters this summer, following Egidijus Majus and Martin Škrtel to the Petrovsky stadium.
The 26-year-old has played 94 matches in the Czech top flight, with CU Bohemians Praha, Sparta and FK Jablonec 97, where he was on loan last season. He also gained UEFA Champions League experience last term, appearing against Chelsea FC and S.S. Lazio.
Under Czech coach Vlastimil Petržela, Zenit lead the Premier-Liga by a point after 18 rounds, but are struggling in Europe having lost their UEFA Cup second qualifying round first-leg tie 3-1 at Austrian side SV Pasching.
