Trapasso blow for Sochaux

FC Sochaux-Montbéliard midfielder Marcello Trapasso has been ruled out for six months with a knee injury.

'Successful' surgery
The 28-year-old damaged cruciate ligaments in his left knee during last Saturday's 1-0 Ligue 1 victory against AC Ajaccio. He underwent "successful" surgery in Strasbourg yesterday, but will be sidelined until February.

UEFA Cup entry
French League Cup holders Sochaux will enter the UEFA Cup in the first round on 16 and 30 September. They will hope to win that tie and progress to the competition's first ever group stage.
