Berti to bolster Parma squad

The 37-year-old, who has previously worked with Parma coach Silvio Baldini at Empoli Calcio and US Città di Palermo, has signed a one-year contract with the UEFA Cup contenders. Berti played 42 times for Palermo last season as the club were promoted from Serie B as champions. Parma will play NK Maribor in the UEFA Cup first round with the first match at home on 16 September before the return is played in Slovenia two weeks later.
