VfB Stuttgart skipper Zvonimir Soldo will sign a new contract with the club until the summer of 2006.
The former Croatian international announced his decision to remain at the club shortly before their UEFA Cup victory over his former club NK Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday. Stuttgart won 2-1 to seal their place in the last 32.
The 37-year-old, who joined Stuttgart in 1996 from Croatia Zagreb, as Dinamo were known at the time, will put pen to paper at their winter training camp in Marbella, Spain at the beginning of January.
Soldo has made 254 appearances in the Bundesliga for Stuttgart and coach Matthias Sammer made no secret of his delight at his decision. "Zvonimir is the most important player in the team and I am very pleased that the club has reached an agreement with him," he said. Soldo's previous deal was set to expire next summer.
