An eloquent personality, an open-minded character with a sympathetic ear and a football freak in a positive sense, Jürgen Klopp could be a perfect fit for Liverpool. UEFA.com investigates the reasons why the Anfield club can can be especially pleased to have secured his services.

Klopp the Anglophile
The British press already love Klopp, who has never made any secret of his great admiration for the Premier League. Indeed the 48-year-old has previously expressed his liking of "what we in Germany call 'English' football – rainy day, heavy pitch, everybody dirty in the face".

The language barrier should not be a problem either. Klopp has given several interviews in English in recent years and has always made his point persuasively, often with wit. His own sense of humour could be particularly well received in England; expect to hear his distinctive, infectious and scratchy laugh at many a press conference to come.

Felix Magath is the only other German to have managed in the Premier League. He was in charge of Fulham between February and September 2014.

Passion
Klopp picked up such a lofty reputation in Dortmund largely because of his ability to instil such unerring commitment in his players. Work ethic and intensity levels were peerlessly high, ensuring supporters always felt they were getting their money's worth.

The Kop at Anfield, much like the Südtribüne at Dortmund, is a big asset which Klopp will look to tap into. If Liverpool need a spark to reignite the passion on the pitch and a bond between team and fans, Klopp really is the perfect match.

Working-class environment
In an industrial region, industrious football is never a bad idea – and Klopp knows no other way. Finely-tuned tactics and precision preparation will be there, but what he expects first and foremost is diligence and defensive effort. Klopp, who once said he is a great admirer of "heavy metal football", certainly wears his heart on his sleeve so expect the natives to warm to him in no time.

Fresh start
While some coaches may prefer to work with experienced players, Liverpool's fairly young squad should be to Klopp's advantage. When he became Dortmund coach in 2008, he had the chance to shape footballers who had not previously been exposed to much glory. One of his best qualities is his ability to induce hunger from his players – ideal for a club who have worked up an appetite over the years.
