Reus on new-look Dortmund and Wembley disappointment

With a goal and an assist in this season's UEFA Europa League group stage – adding to his four goals in three qualifying appearances, and seven Bundesliga strikes already – attacking midfielder Marco Reus has helped Borussia Dortmund to the top of Group C and into the round of 32 with two matches to spare.

UEFA.com: It is a new era at Borussia Dortmund. How much are you enjoying the season and the way the team is playing?

Marco Reus: There have been quite a few changes at the club, we're playing a different type of football from previous years. We're playing with more possession, even though we still press high when we lose the ball, in order to get close to the opposition goal as quickly as possible. We had quite a good run at the start, with a lot of wins; that was quite a euphoric moment. Then we had three or four games where we didn't play that well and dropped some points on the way. But I think we've picked ourselves back up and we are on the right track again.

UEFA.com: You played in the 2013 UEFA Champions League final at Wembley, losing narrowly to Bayern München. What are your memories of that game?

Reus: As everyone knows, not such good memories. We lost the game very unluckily, very late on, right before the final whistle. But we played quite well, especially in the first half. In the second half we lacked a bit of power. We could have been one or two-nil up in the first half – we should have been, and then the game might have been different. But we lost it. Of course it was a nice feeling to be in the final of the Champions League, but at the same time it wasn't the best [feeling] as we didn't win.

UEFA.com: How much does the disappointment of losing in a final drive you to win a European title?

Reus: It doesn't matter if you lose a final or a Bundesliga game or a Europa League game: you want to win every match. Once you have reached the Champions League final, you want to get back there and you want to win the title. But we know what it takes, you need to play consistently and produce your best possible form on the day. So we will see how it goes for us.
