Sevilla secure Ramos signature

Spanish youth international defender Sergio Ramos has signed a one-year contract extension with Sevilla FC.

Promising defender Sergio Ramos has signed a one-year contract extension to keep him at Sevilla FC until June 2008.

Consistent performer
The 18-year-old was originally tied to the Andalusian outfit until 2007 but his consistent performances since making his Primera División debut for the first team last season have convinced the club to extend the deal. Ramos also has the option of adding a further year if he makes enough appearances over the next two seasons.

Youth champion
Ramos was part of the Spain side that won the UEFA European  Champion Under-19 Championship in Switzerland in July and Sevilla have further enhanced his burgeoning reputation by adding a buy-out clause of €18m into the new contract. The youngster made his European club debut in his side’s 2-0 first-leg win against CD National in the first round of the UEFA Cup last Thursday.
