Liverpool and holders Sevilla made it through to the UEFA Europa League semi-finals in dramatic circumstances, with Shakhtar Donetsk and Villarreal qualifying in far more serene fashion.

Liverpool, Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk and Villarreal are through to Friday's UEFA Europa League semi-final draw, streamed live on UEFA.com from 12.30CET.

There was little doubt where the most dramatic game of the evening came, Liverpool twice recovering a two-goal deficit on the night to eliminate Borussia Dortmund thanks to Dejan Lovren's winner in added time. Holders Sevilla took longer still to book their progress, defeating Athletic Club 5-4 on penalties after the two had traded 2-1 wins in their quarter-final tie.

There were no such concerns for Shakhtar Donetsk or Villarreal, who both scored four on Thursday to secure aggregate triumphs over Braga and Sparta Praha respectively.
